Not so Wordless Wednesday!

This has to be one of my favorite times of year here in Sonoma County. It is constantly raining but spring is close. Everything is green and the fields of mustard are in bloom. From growing up in Missouri, it is so bizarre for me to have this time be the most color rich part of the year and the summer be so brown and dry. I get so excited when I see all the vibrant green hills and the huge fields of yellow mustard. I absolutely love it!

Weekend Update

We had a busy weekend. Zippy's work threw us a baby shower on Saturday and it was so much fun having a co-ed shower. I made Zippy open all the presents, too! It was alot of fun and the weather was nice enough for us to have it outside!

Yummy cake and ice cream bar

All this stuff for such a tiny baby!

And something for dad, too!!
On Sunday, I headed down to my friend, Tanya's house. A few of us girls hung out and decided to do the pregnancy belly cast that Tanya was not able to do when she had Fletcher 6 weeks early. I wasn't too sure about it to begin with but it is actually really cool. It is similar to doing paper mache or maybe putting a cast on your arm. Luckily it dried really quickly and I didn't have to stand around for a long time waiting for it to dry! It will be neat to put the baby in it afterwards to see how he/she fit in there -- and also to hold it up to my belly in a few months to see how big I really was!

I wanted to also congratulate Bill and Paige on their precious little girl who was born on Sunday, March 1st. I am sure you have seen her comments on my blog and to see her little one, you can use the link to her blog on the right side of the page, Robers in the Rockies. Hayley is such a cutie!

Zippy and I are trying to wait patiently for our baby's grand entrance into the world. He is hoping it is tonight so he doesn't have to go to work tomorrow which is a huge meeting day. He has been talking to my belly trying to convince the little one to go ahead and come out and play. It is hilarious!!

Week One-Maternity Leave

Time does fly when you are having fun - and even when you are not! I got alot of errands done, rooms cleaned, stuff taken to Goodwill, and the dogs have gotten lots of quality time with me. When it wasn't raining, Ado and I played ball for hours (I think I am feeling a little guilty about the baby coming so soon!). When it was raining, the dogs got to enjoy sleeping in the house for the afternoon where it was dry and I watched some movies. I went to lunch with friends. Caught up on the phone with far away friends. I went to the library. I set up an appointment to get our carseat checked to make sure it was properly installed with CHP. I went to yoga class. I went swimming. We celebrated our anniversary.

And I got sick. Zippy was sick this last weekend and I kept telling him to stay away. Well, it didn't help. Tuesday evening I started feeling lousy, my throat hurts, I have a cough, I am achy and I can't sleep at all. I have spent the last couple of days trying to rest, drinking tea...just about anything that I can(which isn't much because of being pregnant!!). Luckily, I am feeling much better...and I think it is because I went swimming this morning.

Swimming has to be the best thing ever while you are pregnant. The baby is active in general but was going crazy while I was swimming!! It was the coolest thing. Plus, it was great to feel weightless. My back, my hips, and my legs are thanking me right now!! I am glad I am feeling better because we have a long weekend ahead of usand I couldn't imagine being sick and going into labor. Zippy's work is throwing us a shower tomorrow and I am hanging out with some girl friends on Sunday so this baby needs to wait until next week. Then game on! March is almost here!!

Happy 3rd Anniversary to US!!

"Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator, but among those whom I love, I can: all of them make me laugh." ~W.H. Auden

I apologize for the small photo but my snapfish account was not wanting to cooperate with getting me a larger image. Today marks 3 years that Zippy and I have been married. When I think back to that day, I can't help but realize how special our relationship is and how much support we have from family and friends. It was such an amazing start to a great marriage. I can't wait to see what the next years hold for us....

38 weeks and counting...

We had our 38 week appointment this week and everything looks good. It doesn't look like baby DeShazer will be making an entrance into the world anytime soon. Baby hasn't dropped yet and I have just barely started dialating. The doctor measured me again and I am still measuring about 4 weeks ahead(I measured 42 weeks this time). After feeling around my belly, she said that it is ALL baby and that we are looking at an 8+ pound baby. Eeek!!! I had Zippy take this profile picture for me and Ado decided he needed to be part of it. He is a camera hog! Hmm...I wonder if all the baby pictures I will be posting will have him in the shot, too...

38 weeks
My first day off of work was nice and relaxing. It is finally raining here so the dogs and I hung out, slept in, did some laundry, and planned the rest of our week. I thought about going swimming at the local year round pool but after trying on my swimsuit, a tankini, I changed my mind. The top did not even come close to covering the top of my belly. I looked like a trailer trash dude with his belly hanging out below his shirt. It was hilarious! If it stops raining, I might break out an older swim suit to wear....going swimming sounds really nice right now....

Last Day of Work

Well, today was the last day of work. It felt really weird to leave because it makes it more real that I will actually be having a baby in the near future. It will be nice to try to sleep in, get some stuff done, some errands done that we have needed to do for awhile now, and just sink into a daily routine at home. I will be off for 20 weeks - I haven't gone that long without working since I started working when I was 16!!

Happy Late Valentine's Day!

Happy late Valentine's Day. At the last minute, Zippy and I thought we would go out to eat but that didn't turn out too well. All the places we tried to go had 2 hour waits. Instead, we went to the grocery store and got stuff to make fish tacos and grabbed a movie. I was asleep about half way through the movie!!

Here is a picture of us before we went out and my camera is starting to frustrate me. It takes AWESOME pictures outside but I can't figure out how to not make them blurry inside. I am hoping I have plenty of time to figure it out before baby comes!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Flashback Thursday!

As we are preparing to expand our family in the next month, I couldn't help but look back through my pictures of my first babies. They are going to be 4 this year!! Of course, they don't act that way most of the time :-) I think they are beginning to realize that our lives are going to be changing soon. They are demanding more attention and really want to cuddle lately. When Zippy was in Tahoe, I told them it was time to go to bed (they sleep on the floor in our room) and they both headed to the baby's room and laid in front of the crib! I am really interested to see how they adapt to life with baby. On one hand, they will not have to be locked in their kennel all day long since I will actually be home...but depending on their behavior, they maybe spending more time outside! Zippy will bring home a baby blanket and we have been hanging out in the baby room, turning on the swings and noisy things....Anyone have any experiences/suggestions to share with getting dogs adjusted to babies?

36 weeks

Time flies when you are having fun! I can't believe that baby ZJ will be here soon. We had our doctors appointment yesterday and everything looks great: baby is in position , heart sounds good, everything else is fantastic. The doctor did a double take though when she went to measure my belly and I was measuring 40 weeks!! All the previous times, I had been measuring exactly where I should be. I only gained 3 pounds since the last appointment and somehow my belly got ALOT bigger!! I am hoping this means baby is just in a weird position that is making me measure larger and didn't gain 20 pounds over the last few weeks...

As of today, I am planning to continue working for the next two weeks. I am feeling much better-maybe baby was just having a huge growth spurt over the last couple of weeks and that was why I was feeling so crummy?

My friend, Tanya, came over with her son who is about 16 months old. He is such a cutie! He kept asking me to put his bear under his shirt...so he could be like me :-) It was too funny....

Fletcher wanting to be like me!

This week is seriously dragging on. I think it is because Monday marks week 36 of 40 and that is when I am legally allowed to stop working due to 'pregnancy disability.' Unfortunately, I said I would try to stay at least another 2 weeks but considering the week I have had, we will see if I make it past Monday!! I stayed home yesterday because I was feeling crummy and had a better day and slept better last night. Now, I have been at work for half a day and I feel like crap again. Who would think sitting in a chair all day would be so excruciating??!!

Last night, we completed our 3rd of the 5 series birthing class. BORING! I thought it would be so good for Zippy and me to go, learn about our hospitals procedures and ways he can help support me during labor. So far, we haven't covered anything that we didn't already know and our teacher seems to not know what she is talking about half the time. Hopefully the next two weeks make up for the last three!

Enough complaining...I am just tired and grumpy :-) Promise the next post won't be a complaint session!! It might be awhile though.....
