Flashback Thursday!

After a long day of skiing - Feb. 2006, 2 days before our wedding

Ahhh, memories. Zippy is headed to Tahoe tonight for the weekend to enjoy some boy time before baby comes. We have been jokingly calling it his baby bachelor party. He is on call from here on out for baby day!

We got married on Lake Tahoe and have many many good memories of skiing and hanging out in the mountains. We both absolutely love it there but have had a hard time getting time away now that we are all 'grown up'. In winter 06/07, for our first anniversary, we bought season ski passes and we went up almost every weekend that season. Then the next year(last season) rolled around and I was in my Master's program, we had the dogs...so he went up by himself a couple of times while I stayed home to do all my homework. I think I went up once, maybe twice. This year, well, I don't think I will be making it up for much of the season! Luckily, it has been a sucky season with little snow so I don't feel THAT jealous that I am not going. Maybe we will have a great late ski season this year and we can go up together after baby comes. I doubt I will be doing much skiing but it would be fun to see the snow and sit in front of the fire in the cabin. PLUS, Northstar has the BEST Bloody Mary's that I have ever had!! Yum, yum!!

The much anticipated nursery!

Ado wanted to show off the NEW nursery to everyone! I wish we would have taken before and after photos of this room, the transformation was amazing. It took Zippy, Nicki, and me hours to move all the stuff out of this room into the guest room(where Zippy had just refinished the hardwood floors). Then, we started setting up furniture and putting away ALL the clothes and accessories that I received from the shower. Zephy, Nicki, and my friend Steph all spent the night and it still took us HOURS to get everything put away. I think we have enough 0-3 clothing that your little baby ZJ could where a five outfits a day and not have to wear the same thing twice. Guess this is great because I know those diaper blowouts can cause havoc on those outfits! Even the changing table is ready!

Now we just need the baby!

Baby Shower

My sister in law, Zephy, threw me a tea party themed baby shower this weekend. It was so much fun hanging out with family and friends. Zippy and I are so lucky to have so many people who love and support us as we are starting to expand our little family! My mother in law opened her home for us and we had such a great time. Zephy, my friend Stephanie, and Zippy also set up the greatest surprise; my friend Nicki, from Missouri flew in as a shower surprise!! I want to thank everyone who could attend!!

Lots of yummy goodies!

My New Mommy Car!

Ok, I stink at this wordless Wednesday thing so far. If I am going to post, I might as well write! We got a new car this weekend. After driving my 1999 2-door Ford Escort since I graduated from HIGH SCHOOL, we decided it was time to upgrade. We have been talking about it for over a year and finally just did it. A 2-door 10 year old car just wasn't going to cut it as the main mode of transportation for mommy and baby. The Honda CRV is one of the safest rated cars out there right now, gas mileage isn't bad, and it is just plain CUTE! This is the color we got (glacier blue) but this picture doesn't do it justice. It is more blue than this picture shows. I pulled this off the web because I keep forgetting to take pictures while there is still day light! I promise to post pictures later of the real deal :-)
We had our January doctor's appointment last week and everything was great. The OB finds Zippy so entertaining that she actually joked that she wanted to switch to pediatrics just so she can continue care with our family. She said watching Zippy go through raising a child would be totally worth a career change! We also discussed my last day of work. She wrote the note so I can go off as early as February 9th but I think I would go crazy at home for a month. So, somewhere between February 9th and February 20th will be my last day of work! We start our birth preparation class tonight so wish us luck. I am sure I will have some entertaining stories from that, too!

Zippy finished the floors in the guest room over the weekend and we moved most of the furniture back in last night. We are ready to set up the nursery now! Pictures will be posted soon!!

Zippy-isms

Anyone who has been pregnant knows that you get lots of the same questions about the pregnancy. Zippy has a sarcastic answer for them all:

Q: "How is Jen feeling?"
A: "With her hands."

Q: "What are you having?"
A1: "A baby"
A2: "Puppies"

Q: "Are you having a boy or a girl?"
A: " Yes. We are having a boy or a girl."

Q: "Are you going to find out the gender?"
A: "Well, we have to change a diaper at some point..."

Wordless Wednesdays

I saw this kind of post on one of the blogs that I stalk and thought it was a great idea to make sure I post AT LEAST once a week. I know that it can be such a bummer to stalk someone's page and have it be weeks before they post again :-) From here on out, these really will be "Wordless Wednesday" posts with just a picture!

Women

A friend sent me this quote this morning and I thought it was perfect!!

"Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give
her
sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll
give you
a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal.
If you give
her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies
and enlarges
what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap,
be ready to receive
a ton of shit."

Happy New Year!

2009 is finally here, and I still can't believe that in a few months we will have a little one joining our family. Brandon and I are full of anticipation and are looking forward to a great year.

2008 ended with lots of activities with Christmas (the baby already received lots of presents and isn't even here yet...I can't imagine what next year will be like!) and a visit from my Dad who lives in Missouri. It was so good to see him and it is always a great excuse to explore Sonoma County! We headed out to Bodega Bay one day and Armstrong Woods the next. When we weren't out hiking, my dad volunteered to paint the nursery for us. This was such a great help since Zippy HATES painting and I can't due to my 'condition' (that is what the guy helping us at Home Depot called me being pregnant!). We just need to stain the guest room floors that Zippy has been refinishing and we can officially set up the nursery!

Zippy was sick for New Year's so we spent the night in and would have been asleep at midnight except for the neighbors' lighting off fireworks. Hope everyone else had a great time and I am looking forward to 2009!
