Words

I love, love, love communicating with Grevin whether it is in sign or with his spoken words. He gets such a kick out of it, too, when we get what he is saying. On the other hand, he has perfected the tantrum when we don't understand what he is trying to communicate.

A couple of people have been asking me what he is signing/saying and I can never think of them in the moment so here is the list that I came up with today:

Signs:
grandpa
fish
dog
cat
more
please
eat
drink
ball
cracker
banana
bottle
hat
book
again
help
bird
bath
dance (made his own)
keys (made his own)
fan

Spoken Words:
mommy
daddy
kitty
side (outside)
doggy
ball
peez
uh, peez (up, please)
tree
light
Ubee (Ruby)
aqui (aquaphor)
keys
Andrew(sounds like andy)
hat

Noises: cars, cat, dog, pig, lion

I know I am missing some and I am sure Grammy could add some to this list. It is amazing how a year ago he had difficulties holding up his head and now he can communicate! I love watching him grow!

Not much going on...

I have been busy at work this week and Grevin has felt a little under the weather so not much exciting has happened lately.  Here are a few pictures that really have nothing to do with each other-just random ones from the last couple of weeks.

 We have been cleaning house...
 taking naps...
taking baths...

HOPPY BELATED EASTER!

This post is a little late but I just had to share this...

Grevin was not too thrilled about the Easter bunny this year.  He was fine until Zippy stepped away from him!  The photographer thought it would help if she gave him an Easter egg but he thought it was a ball and kept throwing it back to her before she could get a picture!

One Year Check Up (at 13 months)

With the birthday party and our trip to Oregon, we postponed Grey's one year check up until today.  Everything went well, the doctor thinks he is going to be a very social guy. Not sure where he gets that from....

Stats:
Weight: 25lb 11oz (79%)
Height: 2 ft 9 in (or 33 inches)  (98%)
Head: 20.51 in (100%+)

The doctor actually thinks that the nurse measured his head incorrectly but didn't think it was a big deal.  If you look at the growth chart, it looks like there was a HUGE jump and it goes shooting off of the chart but it doesn't look like his head is that big.  Doctor thinks he is going to be the tallest in his class which is funny because Zippy never was a big guy.  Maybe he will be taking after my mom's dad's side of the family?

The doctor loves that we are doing the signs with him and really thinks this will help reinforce the spoken word.  When the doctor asked us about nutrition and food, as soon as he said food, Grevin did the sign for more and we all started laughing.  There is nothing wrong with his eating!

His ears also looked really good and healed from his ear drum rupture last month.  Everything is back to normal.

Of course, he wasn't too happy about his vaccines, but as soon as the injection tech started blowing bubbles, he was laughing through his tears.

When we were in the doctor's office, Grevin learned how to open the door there.  I am so glad we don't have those kinds of handles at our house or else I would never be able to keep him inside!

(this is the second post for today so make sure to scroll down and read the next post!)

Gardening and Bodega Bay Fish Fest

What a great weekend!!  After weeks of rain...especially on the weekends...we were fortunate enough to get a  nice, warmy sunny Saturday so we started getting our garden ready.  We started our morning on a bike ride to get coffee downtown-a great weekend tradition-and this time we didn't need to put gloves on Grey!  Then we headed over to the farmer's market where we picked up some oysters to BBQ  and a few starter plants-onions, broccoli raab, cherry tomatoes, big tomatoes, cilantro, and lemon cucumbers to start our garden.  We also have watermelon seeds, pumpkins, peas, and a few hot peppers.  Grevin loved playing in the dirt and helping us get the garden prepped.

Helping dad turn over the soil
Some surprises left over from last year!
Would you like one?
On Sunday, we headed out to the Bodega Fish Festival out in Bodega Bay with Michelle and Andrew.  The boys had alot of fun checking out the fire engines, police cars, boats, and helicopters.  There was a boat parade as the boats headed out to be blessed for the opening of salmon season.  It was a rare day at the coast-sunny, warm, and hardly any wind.  So much fun!

Come on, let's go!
Is this a peak into the future?
Fireman Grey
The CHP officer said the boys could sit in her car, there was nothing that they could get into...famous last words...as the loudspeaker went off on the outside of the car with the dispatcher dispatching calls!
Checking out the starfish and other sea creatures...Grevin kept wanting to climb in with them!
The bestest of best friends!

When we got home, we headed out the finish gardening.  We were second guessing having Grey help us weed on Saturday because he wanted to keep pulling out the new plants.  Instead, I sprayed some water for him and he entertained himself!
I can't help but think he looks cute even covered in mud!!

Grandpa DeShazer took these pictures, they are two of my favorite!

Grevin LOVES asparagus and eating outside
Grandma and Grandpa Gigi bought Grey a camping chair for Easter.  Do you think he likes it?

Silver Falls

Note to self-if we plan another trip in April, we will be driving 10 hours south instead of north!! It rained, it snowed, it hailed....but it still did not stop us from having a good time :) I am so glad we decided to stay in the rustic cabins in Silver Falls instead of trying to camp. When it was in the 30s, I was really enjoying the heaters in the cabin even though we still had to cook outside and the camp restrooms were a long walk in the rain. We splashed in puddles, ate lots of yummy food, hung out with family, and hiked when it wasn't pouring down rain.  Grevin had so much fun exploring, playing in the mud, throwing rocks, and finding sticks.  He learned how to say "tree" and would point them out to everyone!  I am so glad he was walking, I couldn't have imagined if he wanted to crawl through the mud....

All packed(think we can fit anything else??) and ready to hit the road (10 hour drive to Eugene)  Grey was a trooper...
Reading the paper in bed with dad at the hotel
Watching the rain come down on the front porch of the cabin with Grandpa DeShazer
Playing with his tractor-waiting for the rain to stop
Well, since the rain wasn't going to stop anytime soon, let's go out and play!  And isn't his hat the cutest??  We didn't bring one with us so Grammie knitted him one the first night we were there.
Cooking in the rain-the shade tent came in handy!
Grey's favorite thing to do...throw rocks in the puddles
Muddy face!
Hiking the falls
Hiking behind North Falls
Uncle Tyler and Grey hiking the trail!
Tired after his long hike
Grey and his Grandpas getting snowed on (we had just stepped outside-it wasn't snowing yet-to take pictures...that is why Grey doesn't have a coat on!!  I might get the mommy of the year award for this one!)

Daddy!!

Check out Grey's new words. I started the video late so the first word he is saying is "light" if you don't understand "Grey-talk".

And Grey wanted to show off his new skills!!

He is trying to stand up from a sitting position but gets frustrated very easily when he can't do it with all of his toys in his hands. He loves to walk over to the step in Grammy's house and use it to stand up from a sitting position. He thinks he is pretty cool when he does it!

Playdate with Shane

Shane and Grey were able to finally meet up for a playdate this weekend!  We have been trying to get these two together for quite awhile but something always came up.  We played and had lunch at Jill's before heading over to the Rincon Valley Park.  Shane is so lucky to live so close to a nice park, not like the scary Doyle Park by our house.  I refuse to go there alone!  The boys played in the sand, swung, and loved watching the older boys skateboard. When we got back to the house, we had brownies and ice cream so Shane could sing "Happy Birthday" to Grey and give him his birthday present.  Shane showed Grey how to use his toys and it was fun watching them play together....

Grey was fascinated by the skateboarders. I told him he had to walk more to be able to skate like that.  The next day, he started walking everywhere!
It is always interesting to try to take pictures of kids together...
Thanks, Jill.  We had lots of fun and we can't wait to do it again!!
