You can't be serious...
I have been in denial for the last few days. Grevin has been drooling like crazy, soaking his shirt with slober. "Developmentally appropriate," right? His hands are constantly in his mouth. "Developmentally appropriate," right? What is that white thing on the lower right hand corner of his gummy smile? It must be some residual spit up or something. I finally got a good feel and a good look at it today. You can't be serious...it is a freakin' tooth. Where is my baby going??!! At this rate, he will be shaving by the time I go back to work in a few weeks!

Hello, summer!
Summer is finally here even though it hasn't felt like it the last few days. It has been rainy and overcast and cool...but we are taking advantage of the sunshine when it comes out! I am a little scared that it is June and I have to go back to work in July. We are going to enjoy every moment because it is going too fast. Our summer has started!
Zippy and I finally took the time to plant our garden. We planted tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, lemon cucumbers, peppermint, spearmint, lettuce, corn, bell peppers carrots, jalepenos, basil, corn, and we are still looking for some cilantro. Yum, yum!!
Grevin watching his daddy

One of my bestest friends, Kristie, from high school in Missouri came out to visit with her aunt and her mom. The four of us used to do girlie trips to St. Louis and Chicago during the first summers after high school. When I moved out to California, they came to visit(about 7 years ago). This time, they came out to meet Grevin for a girlie trip reunion. The weather looked like it was going to be terrible but we headed to the coast anyways. It turned out to be a beautiful day! It was Grevin's first time to the ocean and he seemed to enjoy it. The next day, we dropped Grevin off at Grammie Jane's house and went wine tasting(I didn't take my camera so I hope I can get copies of Kristie's!). We also went swimming at the hotel where they were staying. They had a heated pool and Grevin was loving floating around in his turtle floatie. Again, no camera. I am such a bad mom!! I had such a good time with them and I miss them already!

Today, we headed out to Sacramento to celebrate Jerry and Matt's birthdays. We had alot of fun hanging out with everyone, drinking sangria, and swimming in Jerry and Kim's pool(the peops who made the cute block). Matt lives just around the corner from us and has a son who is two weeks younger than Grevin. They are best buddies-they just don't know it yet!

Birthday fun!
Happy birthday, Andrew!

Let the birthdays begin! We are at the point now in our lives where the weddings are slowing down (only 4 friends this year!) and the birthday parties are picking up! Our bestest friend Andrew turned ONE this weekend and his mom, Michelle sure knows how to throw a party! It was an airplane themed affair from the invitation being a boarding pass to an airplane cake, baggage claim (for the presents), and even a flight attendant(Michelle) hosting the event! Needless to say, I will be asking for ideas in a few months to help plan Grevin's.

2 month check up
Today was Grevin's two month check up. He wowed the doctor and nurses with his cooing and smiles...but that still didn't prevent him from having to get his shots! He did fantastic, a little crying during the actual shots, but is doing great so far.
The doctor was also impressed with his alertness and of course, his size. He was 9 lb 13 oz at birth and 2 mths later, he is 14 lb 8 oz (in the 96% of the growth percentile); he was 23 inches at birth and is now 26 inches (the 100th percentile!); his head was 14.5 " at birth and is now 16.5" (the 91st percentile).
Everything else looked great. Our doctor is fantastic, playing with Grevin, making faces, cuddling-he is fantastic...and realistic. He is very supportive of us and what works for our family..and always is willing to share stories of what worked with his children. I am so thankful to have found him and that we have a healthy baby boy!

2 months
We are so lucky to have lots of friends who are home during the day. We have play dates with Andrew (11 months), Ruby (4 months), Fletcher (18 months), and Noa (5 weeks) whenever we can because you love new surroundings and new people.
Grandma DeShazer watched you for the first time when you were 7 weeks old. We have a wedding to attend in a few weeks and we want to make sure you are comfortable with taking a bottle. You weren't too sure about the bottle but grandma figured out that you are just picky. You have to have it a specific temperature. If it starts to cool off, you stop eating!
When you were just over 6 weeks old, you decided you hated to take naps. You protest quite loudly when you need to nap(it sounds like we are torturing you!) and it takes awhile to get you to fall asleep as you fight to keep your eyes open. You just don't want to miss a thing!! Luckily though you are a 'good' night sleeper. You are sleeping for longer and longer in your bassinet-up to 4 hour stretches and only wake up about twice to eat at night. We may have kicked everyone else out of the room though because your dad tends to sleep on the couch more and more and the dogs stay out there with him!
Milestones:
You can entertain yourself for longer periods of time. You love your playmat-there is frog that you smile at all the time and you love to figure out how to get the cat to move and rattle. You are finally enjoying your swing. This is the only place I have ever seen you just chill.
You are full of smiles and talk all the time to us, to your toys, to the dogs, anything that will listen!
You can lift your head and shoulders off of the floor for longer every day. I am glad you are one of those rare babies who actually enjoy tummy time! You get stronger everyday.
You discovered your hands and feet. Who would have known that those flailing things were attached to your body AND that you could control them?! You have started grabbing my fingers and your toys with alot more control and started grabbing your toes, too!
You and your dad practice 'walking' all the time. You love it when he holds you where you can walk up his stomach and chest. Actually if you start getting fussy, we can always get you to stop by letting you pull yourself up into a standing position.
I really wish you would stay a little baby just for a little longer! You want to be constantly moving, doing new things, and being turned out to see the world. What happened to my little boy who just a few short weeks ago wanted to sleep and snuggle all day long?
You sure keep us busy and we are looking forward to watching you grow!!

Cloth Diaper Contest
Hello, all you fellow mommies! Have any of you used cloth diapers? How was your experience with it and what was your favorite type? We are starting this adventure and I am constantly looking for suggestions. I just entered a contest to win AppleCheeks from DiaperStyle. This starter kit looks awesome! The covers are SUPER adorable. Wouldn't Grevin look too cute in these? What I really like is that with the dogs, I won't have a bunch of smelly cloth diapers hanging out in his room! I am dreading them getting into the diapers!!

Also, I wanted to thank my friend, Rebecca, for making me this adorable diaper cover. I have such crafty friends, you would think it would start to rub off!
