Grevin & The Great Pumpkin

It was a bright, beautiful, sunshiny day....the DeShazer family headed to the Adobe Pumpkin Patch last weekend to meet up with our new little neighbor friend, Ripley, and his family. On the car ride down there, Zippy kept talking to Grey about picking a pumpkin and that they should try to find a B-I-G pumpkin...Grey could get one as big as Zippy could carry. Big enough for Grey to sit on. The biggest pumpkin they could find.  After exploring all of the pumpkin patch activities: trains, blow up slides, bounce houses, hay maze, petting zoo, more train rides, a hay pyramid and a hay ride....we were finally ready to go find that pumpkin! We looked and looked and looked....Grey finally picked the one he wanted. We pick our pumpkins similar to our Christmas trees...you will never find the idealistic pumpkin or Christmas tree in our house....no perfectly round, orange pumpkin...or perfectly straight and full tree....they need to have some character! Zippy could carry it but got tired so found a wheelbarrow to take it the rest of the way. We were ready to pay and the lady dressed as a witch said, "That will be $40." I think both our jaws dropped to the floor at this point  because she started to hesitate and had to confer with a princess that it was the right varietal....an atlantic giant.  Yes, it indeed was, but it wasn't fully grown so she would give us a fantastic deal at $30.  It looks great on our porch and I know what business I will be going into next year!!  Needless to say, the next time we search for a pumpkin, it will be as big as Grey can carry!!! It was a fun day and a great story...and hopefully that pumpkin lasts until next year!

 First ride on the train
Grey races to the top of the slide...
But decided he needed daddy to get back down!

Second ride on the train without mommy & daddy
Enjoying kettle corn waiting for the hay ride to start
Zoe playing in the dirt while they search for a pumpkin behind her
 Hmmm...how about that one?
Nope, this is the perfect one! It's alot of hard work finding the perfect pumpkin, Grey needed a ride back!

You're pumpkin story is exactly why I get mine at the grocery store for $3 a piece! We will only go to the patch for a picture because I hate being surprised at the register with the price!!

you are going to have to teach me how to be a patient and fun wife... and later on, mother.... who doesnt spend weeks and weeks looking for the perfect trees and pumpkins :/ Either that, or Im sending my kids to their aunts house the day of the pumpkin patch field trip and you can deal with them :)
